From the experienced controller to the business owner who feels they could better understand the organization’s accounting, this series is for you! We teach the basic accounting concepts and use them to accelerate your organization. If you are an experienced business owner or accounting professional, take a step out of the weeds and see if your organization’s accounting and finance is a well-oiled tool in your organization or if your lack of accounting structure is exposing you to risk.

Numbers do not have to be intimidating. They tell a great story if you know how to read them. Through presentation, questioning, and group discussion, you will optimize your honing of financial skills and devise appropriate action with accountability to read your financial story better. All while developing solid relationships, helping others, and having fun.

Class Details

Days: Meets Once per Month from the JRCI Training Room via a Hybrid of Zoom OR in Person
Duration: 4 Months, 4 Classes 
Time: 2.0 hrs. per meeting. Orientation Meeting 2hrs. online before series start.
Materials: Binder and Detailed Materials, Power Point per session, access to Coach during series, Case Studies, Book Summaries.
Notes: Designed as a Cohort Group Series. Limited to 20 Participants for a Hybrid  format, intended to maximize individualized value. All financial experience levels are welcome.

Unit 1: Financial Statement Understanding, February 14th

Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash Flow – What does it all mean, and why should I care?

You have created a mission, vision, and values, but how do you measure your actions against these thoughts? Think of it like this: The Balance Sheet is a snapshot in time, The Profit and Loss statement is your motion picture, and the Cashflow Statement allows you to support better decision-making. Elevate your ability to read your books, understand what they are telling you, and make better financial decisions with your upgraded awareness.

Unit 2: Financial Statement Understanding, A Deeper Dive, March 13th

Now that you know, dive into better decision-making that will further elevate your business! Explore Debt vs. Equity financing, tax consequences, book liquidation value, depreciation, and GAAP. We will explore industry-specific accounting methodologies to build your financial knowledge to the next operational level. Turn your financials into your friend in this unit.

Unit 3: Financial Statement Risks & Safeguards, April 10th

Does your company need a bookkeeper, accountant, controller, or CFO? Should you hire directly or outsource? How often should you be involved in this stuff?! What must you need to know to manage your risk? “I talk to all my employees daily; what do you mean I am at risk!?!?” We will outline and discuss horror story examples to watch for in your organization. You will elevate your: overview of month-end procedures, internal controls/segregation of duties, procedures, and much more.
Unit 4: Taxes & Owner Transactions, May 8th

You understand financial statements and how to use them to make daily business decisions; now learn how to manage success! High-level leaders need to know when to do what; growth demands adaptability and change. We will explore topics such as: real-estate, smart debt, owner compensation, tax planning, retirement plans, year-end spending, and more.

Course Highlights

This series is designed to develop multiple skillsets and directly improve performance at the supervisor and manager levels. Three fundamental principles are presented in the series. Individual skillset knowledge, team performance development and improved execution with attention to results are of primary focus. The format is quickly paced with dynamic content, feedback and accountability.

Feedback Loop

Each participant will report to their superior at the completion of the series with their coach. This will be a scheduled 30-minute discussion. Each participant will detail what they have learned and how they will implement this information for improved results moving forward. This is the accountability loop in action.

Each unit in this series is designed with clearly defined learning objectives for all participants. All units end with time set aside for participants to articulate unique personal action steps. Implementation expectations and deliverables they have uniquely identified as they move forward will be communicated with their peers in the group. More accountability.

Refund Policy

Once the event is booked it is understood all parties have committed to the program. Should uncontrolled circumstances dictate cancellation or adjustment of the event, JRCI will evaluate and make responsible adjustments. Cancellations made 90 days or more in advance of the event date will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made within 60 days will incur a 30% fee. Cancellations made within 30 days of the event will incur a 50% fee. A major disaster or significant illness is considered a legitimate reason for cancellation and will require additional review.

  • The tools and materials that will be provided to you are confidential and proprietary for your use only. Accordingly, you agree to hold the tools and materials in confidence and in trust. Tools are not to be duplicated or loaned to others for any reason.
  • You will be notified by email as to any schedule adjustments or changes.
  • Please, no audio or video recording. Screen shots are permitted.
  • You will receive a frameable Graduation Certificate with your printed name upon successful completion of each series. Your full engagement is required for certification.

Jeff Rogers asked Greg to work with him and Jeff’s students at Syracuse University, Whitman School of Management, EEE370 Entrepreneurship class for four years, teaching the accounting section. Each semester Greg’s session was one of the most special to the students.

Greg is a tax senior manager with Dermody, Burke & Brown, CPAs, LLC, and a business coach with Jeffrey A. Rogers Executive Business Coaching. Greg’s experiences as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Professional Business Coach (CPBC) bring detailed knowledge and skill to the team.
